Mollie Hancock Floor Lamp November 08th, 2018 - 04:59:37
Dale Tiffany lamp was enthralled by stained glass windows and churches. He first started by breaking jelly jars and painting them soon enough. The jelly drive got old and he began producing his own glass. Love for nature was incorporated in all his light fixtures. As you can see, each piece of hand-blown glass has been secured into place with the copper foil technique. This no Tiffany lamp is a timeless piece.
I could picture this in my home now or my grandma's attic. True art glass is created by a special process, called the batch process which blends in swirls various colors of molten glass to create unique and individualized patterns, unlike machine made or monochrome glass, which has a simple color or stain added to it.
The art glass exhibits the same subtle shadings of color, as found in flower, leaves and petals incorporating precious metals such as gold, silver and selenium, to create very unique colors such as rose lavender powder, blue and especially the more vibrant reds greens and purples after the colors are hand blended in this batch process, the glass is rolled into sheets, preserving the subtle variations in color that will ultimately make everyday lamp, a unique work of art many times in the final process.
